Barako coffee is a varietal of the rare coffee species of Liberica grown in the Philippines. It is lesser known of the 3 coffee species and only makes up 2% of world production. known for is aniseed flavor.. 

Barako trees are considered endangered due to low production and demand. It is listed in the Ark of Taste catalogue.
