What is calamansi?

Calamansi or known as calamondin, it is widely used in Philippine cuisine – from beverages, sauces and squeezed over dishes to add a zesty fresh flavor. It is a hybrid that originates from kumquat and (probably) the mandarin. 

Calamondin can taste between a cross of orange and lemon and its thin yellow peel can be eaten or made into jams or marmalade.

Although in the west, this citrus is primarily used as a beautiful ornamental plant and waiting to be discovered for its wonderful culinary potential.
