Flavor Notes: Velvety chocolate with the unique spiciness of Filipino wild labuyo chili, giving a pleasant and addicting tingle in the throat.
What is labuyo chili?
Labuyo chili is generally considered the smallest hot chili in the world (0.5 cm). This cultivar developed in the Philippines after the Columbian Exchange (between the Americas and the Old World in the 15th & 16th centuries). It is also referred as “wild chili” and known as Filipino bird’s eye chili.
On the Scoville scale it scores 80,000 – 100,000, which makes it comparable to tabasco or piri piri.
This award-winning bar is like life, sweet and full of kick, but of the pleasant kind.
A truly unique ingredient, Labuyo chili is listed in the Ark of Taste catalogue of rare heritage food by the Slow Food Movement.
